• Year 1 - 1998. Starts as "About You @ High School" with 7 entrants.
  • Year 2 - 1999. Becomes part of Southeast Software Association. Had 18 registered schools, with $15K in scholarship funds. Awards Ceremony event held at SciTrek.
  • Year 3 - 2000. Becomes official "TAG educational event." Scholarships at $22K and grew to 38 teams. Added Kick-Off Event to beginning of competition. Eight teams won awards.
  • Year 4 - 2001. Broadens sponsor base to include: EarthLink, Compaq, NIIT, air2web, Internet Security Systems, Sevista, Microsoft and United Way. Increased scholarships to $30K and registered teams to 47. Final Event at GCATT.
  • Year 5 - 2002. Included more than 300 students from 44 Georgia high schools with $30,000 in scholarships.
  • Year 6 - 2003. 52 teams competed.
  • Year 7 - 2004. 51 teams from 36 schools competed. Introduced the concept of having a non-profit organization as the beneficiary of the efforts put forth by the students. SCORE was selected by the WebChallenge 2004 committee as the non-profit organization. A document was produced to capture all of SCORE's requirements for the website. SCORE picked the website that it considered to be the Best Overall Site. The winning website was implemented in production (http://www.scoreatlanta.org). Another new feature that was introduced was the security assessment performed on all finalist websites.
  • Year 8 - 2005 WebChallenge is linked to the technology curriculum in Georgia, specifically Computer Applications (07.441), Information Technology Foundations 11.412), and Web Page Design (11.431) course content.
  • Year 9 - 2006. WebChallenge Competition is revised to be more fun and beneficial to students. Students are encouraged to focus on interactive features and are given the freedom to develop a concept of their choice. Kick-off Event and Award Ceremony will be held at Georgia Institute of Technology.

  • Year 10 - 2007. Celebrating 10 years of advancing technology education in Georgia! Thank you to everyone who has made WebChallenge one of the premier web design competitions in America.
  • Year 11 - 2008.Recognizing the significance of social networking and the widespread use of Facebook by high school and college students, the competition centers on Facebook application design with the tagline “Socializing The Web.”

WebChallenge is an annual Technology Association of Georgia educational event.
